History
The Inaugural Meeting of the Shetland Sheepdog Club was held in the Presbyterian Hostel, Brunswick Street, Belfast on a Thursday evening at 7.30pm 1970.
In the Chair a Mr F Hyland.
Present: Mr & Mrs Hylands, Mr & Mrs Kirk, Mr & Mrs Reynolds, Mr G Logue, Mr K Baird, Mr Kennedy, Mr Catney, Mr Gow, Miss Balmer, Miss M Callen, Miss S Callen, Mr J Russell.
Three names were put forward for the new Club.
1. Ulster Shetland Sheepdog Club
2. Northern Ireland Shetland Sheepdog Club
3. The North of Ireland Shetland Sheepdog Club.
There were 25 Foundation members. Four of these are still members to-day:
1. Our President Mr Joe Kirk
2. Vice President Mrs Nan Kirk
3.Two Honorary Members, Miss Agnes Balmer and Mr John Russell
